Volumetrics
Loss of facial volume is often the first sign we are ageing. The ageing process is different for everyone: bone structures, skin, genetics all differ as do lifestyle factors. So while people search for a way to turn back the hands of time, they still want to retain their individuality.
What is Volumetrics?
Volumetrics is the latest cosmetic enhancement technique performed by a medical practitioner using Restylane SubQ and Restylane Perlane
Volumetrics is a three dimensional contouring of the face as opposed to just filling lines and wrinkles. It’s about creating facial harmony, for natural, non-surgical face lifts, or anti-ageing results.
Rather than going under the knife, Volumetrics is a new technique to replace volume lost while still retaining a natural look.
How does it work?
Volume is important for facial attractiveness. Loss of facial volume results in flat facial features, which in turn affects the central facial triangle – disrupting facial harmony.
Volumetrics aims to replace the central volume that’s been lost over time.
Restylane SubQ and Perlane can easily add and enhance facial volume. The thick gel consistency is formulated specifically to provide structural support and add volume to give the lift needed to counter facial fat loss.
An additional top up treatment maybe necessary four to six weeks after the initial treatment. This means you can control your results by working with your practitioner to achieve the optimal correction and achieve the look you desire. The ‘less is more’ approach is often the best approach.
Why not get a face lift?
More and more people today want to improve their appearance with minimal invasion. There are a number of reasons to try the Volumetrics procedure. It’s a non-permanent treatment and the treatment can really be tailored to best suit your specific needs. It lasts up to 18 months1 and gives you very natural, subtle results.
The Volumetrics technique can be used to improve the mid-face area and difficult to treat areas such as the jaw line, brow, crows feet and dark circles under the eyes.
Until the arrival of Restylane SubQ and Perlane, doctors had limited treatment options for these areas of the face. Pulling skin taut didn’t achieve a natural look. But filling out areas with increased volume actually creates better facial harmony giving you a more revitalised look.
This treatment counters the loss of volume in the upper cheek area2. Softening the appearance of the hollowness that can appear between the cheek and the eye can be achieved by injecting either Restylane products into the deep dermis along the cheek bone. It has the added advantage of also reducing the impact of deep nose to mouth lines to give that fresher look that so many women (and men) desire.
As you continue to age your face will continue to change shape. Volumetrics is a non-permanent technique that has long lasting results, while retaining flexibility and control over your looks.
How can it be used in the cheeks?
Restylane SubQ or Perlane can be injected into the deep dermis along the cheekbone to add a fuller, fresher look. Whether it’s for a ‘lift’ or to add contour; it provides deep dermal support helping skin by restoring volume and gives a youthful shape and contour to the face. The effect is very natural, leaving your skin feeling firmer but still soft to touch. The treatment is suitable for a wide range of patients seeking to improve their facial shape and definition without resorting to surgery or having permanent implants.
How else can the Volumetrics technique be used?
The Volumetrics technique can also correct a weak or receded chin. By restoring lost volume in the chin, attention is drawn away from the neck and the jaw line benefits from a more defined jaw line.
What about the down time?
As opposed to a face lift that has a downtime of anywhere up to three weeks, the Volumetrics technique can be done in as little as 30 minutes. There’s minimal bruising for 2-3 days with little to no downtime.
Is Volumetrics painful?
A local anaesthetic is applied to the specific area. There maybe some dull pain associated with the bruising which is sometimes evident one-two days after the treatment.
A face lift involves a general anaesthetic with pain killers recommended post-surgery.
Are there any side effects?
Following treatment some mild, transient side effects may include swelling, redness, tenderness or a little bruising at the injection site. These should be minimal and of short duration, one to two days.
Costs?
Volumetrics is on a case-by-case basis; treatments start at $1200. Costs depend on your expectations, what you have done and therefore how much product is used.
Who does these treatments?
A large number of cosmetic clinics around New Zealand are trained in Volumetrics and they can provide you with a personalised appraisal and outline what is needed to achieve your desired look.
